Happy to share our latest customer case study with Echo360 – a leader of active learning and teaching technology, both inside and outside of the classroom.
Developed by educators, for educators, Echo360 uses video technology to “flip” the classroom and enable distance learning and simplify class review. Over 2M students in 8,000 classrooms in 600 institutions across 30 countries rely on Echo360 active learning technology to enhance their educational experience before, during and after class.
Building its initial infrastructure in the public cloud helped Echo360 leverage elasticity that can support the dynamic academic schedule. However, demanding video-centric solutions are among the most challenging to deploy at large scale due to massive file sizes and ensuing high-performance demands for streaming and playback.‘Noisy neighbors’ led to lack of control over performance degradation in user experience due to shared resources while high reliability proved to be a challenge for the mission-critical platform.
All existing cloud solutions meant compromising on reliability, security and performance or would require a complex and costly management of each of Echo 360’s 30 global locations, which would make replication and sharing source volumes impossible.
With Zadara behind their infrastructure, institutions leveraging the Echo360 platform have an ultra-reliable way to store their valuable instructional media and videos while saving both customer and internal costs and complexity. As higher education moves more of its applications to hosted solutions as part of business continuity plans, Zadara’s snapshots provide a point-in-time backup of an institution’s videos, allowing for rapid recovery in the event of an outage.
